George Hope was the older brother of my great great grandfather John Hope. The family stories contained in this book are fascinating.

Subject: Fascinating

My husband's great great grandfather, Hugh Bertram, was the farm stewart at Fenton Barns working for George Hope, and is mentioned in the memoirs. I was very interested to read this memoir, particularly since Ann Bertram (sister to my husband's great grandfather, George Hope Bertram, accompanied Charlotte Hope (author of the memoir) on her trip to Canada in 1863, and with her survived the sinking of the Anglo Saxon off Cape Race. Fantastic read for our family!
